For this project I chose to make a composition entirely out of type to represent the rhythm, melody and overall concept of the song "Them Changes" by Thundercat. I chose this song for the many layers and unique sounds in it that I believed could be effectively expressed visually. To showcase some of the darker themes of the song hidden under its funk upbeat tone, I used a black base color and a dark red to evoke the image of blood. The green colors were used to tie the concept together, complimenting the harsh reds and blacks and adding some vibrance to express the upbeat funky tone of the melody that obscures its darker lyrics. The typeface "HWT Arabesque" was chosen to represent the duality of the singers voice, with the solid bold qualities of the font contrasting with its waving almost liquid structure. The typeface "Sign Painter" was chosen for it fluid qualities that were meant to invoke the image of blood and also represent the funky beat holding the song together. The font "Apple Chancery" was chosen for its high contrast, which works well paired with varied sizes of the O's representing the rhythm and its spontaneity. The combination of color and font style find a creative way to represent the overall feel of the song as well as evoke some of the deeper meaning behind the lyrics
